Behind the build
The Collaboration Choir is a network of adult pop choirs across the UK, blending community, creativity, and connection. I was brought on to build a membership-based events system that could manage everything from weekly rehearsals to free trials and ticketed events — all from a single, streamlined WordPress platform.
A membership system that works hard
Every member has a unique ID, QR code, and personalised dashboard, with access controlled dynamically based on active subscriptions. Free trials, full memberships, and event passes all share the same unified logic — keeping the experience consistent while reducing admin time. Through custom user-meta relationships, members, choirs, and rehearsals are linked seamlessly, ensuring data flows in both directions without manual updates.
From rehearsals to real-time attendance
Each choir rehearsal and event is handled as a custom post type, with linked memberships determining access. Admins can scan members’ QR codes at the door — logging attendance instantly and automatically updating user records. The result? A lightweight, dependable system that makes weekly rehearsals, one-off performances, and trials equally simple to manage.
Built in collaboration — and still evolving
The Collaboration Choir has been a true partnership with Contour Creative Studio. Together, we’ve shaped a platform that balances complex functionality with simplicity on the surface. It has been an ongoing creative exchange: refining motion and UX, evolving how data flows through the site, and ensuring every feature feels cohesive with their design direction. From automations and attendance logic to dashboards and reporting tools, the build continues to expand — always with scalability, sustainability, and user experience at its core.
